Housing needs, the Disabilities facilities grant (DFG) and Private home owners.

Our therapists are experts in housing and the DFG criteria. Our therapists are able to support the expectations of local authorities and housing providers to meet the needs of their residents.

At OT+ we can also support those looking to purchase a new home to ensure it will meet both their current and future needs.

OT+ Housing Needs.

- Housing can be complex and difficult to appreciate what is and what is not suitable for residents with varying levels of independence. Our therapists can assess an individual in their current property, and assess if it can be adapted, or if they require alternative accommodation with clear recommendations.

OT+ DFG.

- Accessing essential facilities within the home environment is key to occupational task performance. Providing access to the bathroom allows an individual to perform their personal care tasks with dignity, access to a kitchen allows an individual to meet their nutritional needs, and providing access to the public path allows an individual to engage in life beyond the constraints of an inaccessible home. The impact of opening a home environment is priceless to the individual it effects, and our therapists are experts in DFG criteria to support any structural changes in the most cost effective way.

OT+ Property viewing.

- Offering your resident a property based on their medical needs is rarely straight forward. A therapist viewing a potential property can provide both the housing provider, and the resident, some comfort in knowing if it is suitable of not before discussing a tenancy agreement. Our therapists can assess suitability prior to a tenancy agreement being offered and provide an expert opinion if a potential property is suitable, unsuitable, or suitable with recommendations.

OT+ Private home owners.

- Purchasing a new home can be difficult when looking at it from a suitability perspective for those with varying or progressive needs. Our therapists can assess potential home purchases to recommend how it can be adapted, subject to feasibility, and provide a degree of decision making support before a purchase is finalised.
